The Isle of Wight - A Small Island with a Big Heart
The Isle of Wight has a varied landscape from valleys, downs, meadows and some spectacular coastal areas, including the famous Needles. Two stretches of the coastline have been designated “Heritage Coast” an acknowledgement in England & Wales of the highest quality and unspoilt nature of these coastlines. Visit the famous multi-coloured sandstone cliffs of Alum Bay, or the chalk cliffs of Whitecliff Bay.
Visit Cowes, the world famous yaughting centre, the town is positively buzzing with excitement during Cowes week. Named after the church overlooking the village from on high, Godshill is a picturesque village complete with beautiful thatched cottages, The Old Smithy and even a model village. Sandown has a magnificent sandy beach and a pier, with all the attractions. Shanklin has some thatched cottages within the old village, a short walk and you find yourselves in Shanklin Chine.
The Isle of Wight is awash with things to do and places to visit, whether you enjoy lying on beautiful sandy beaches, exploring the island’s scenery or maybe a visit to Queen Victoria’s favourite country residence; Osborne House.
Within an area of just 147 square miles, the Isle of Wight has everything you need for that relaxing holiday or short break. A large portion of the island has been designated an “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty” since 1963. For walkers, there are 500 miles of rights of way, for cyclists a 62 mile route taking you all over the island, through green valleys, downs and picturesque villages with thatched cottages
